Mit einem Fassungsverm\u00f6gen von 170 Kubikhektometern und einer maximalen Stauh\u00f6he von 230 Metern verf\u00fcgt er \u00fcber das gr\u00f6\u00dfte Fassungsverm\u00f6gen in der Provinz M\u00e1laga. Er umfasst das Tal, das La Vi\u00f1uela von Los Romanes trennt, und die Fl\u00e4che des vom Guaro regulierten Beckens betr\u00e4gt 119 km2.
