The village pays homage to Mr. Eduardo Oc\u00f3n, one of the most important musicians in Malaga and Spain, with a monolith in his memory.<\/p>\n
Born in Benamocarra on 12 January 1833, Oc\u00f3n was a composer and organist. At the age of 18 he became the second organist at Malaga Cathedral. He studied in Paris and, after his return to Malaga, he took charge of the Conservatory of Music and regained his position at the Cathedral, where he promoted the restoration of the organ of Juli\u00e1n de la Orden. His compositions include seven masses, the Miserere, the Rapsodia Andaluza and the Cantos Espa\u00f1oles.<\/p>\n
