Located in the Barriada de Los Ram\u00edrez, it was ordered to be built in 1888 by the contractor of the C-335 road from Granada. It seems to have been built because of the need to destroy, due to the layout of the road, a small covacha with postcards of saints that existed on the road for the worship of the muleteers. This contractor promised that, if the work was completed smoothly, he would build a hermitage for the worship of his patron saint (the Virgen de las Angustias is the patron saint of Granada).<\/p>\n
Between the citizens of the Portugalejo neighbourhood, which belongs to Canillas de Aceituno, and their neighbours in Los Ram\u00edrez de La Vi\u00f1uela they organised a referendum to decide in which municipal district the hermitage would be built; the neighbours of La Vi\u00f1uela won and so it was that La Vi\u00f1uela welcomed the Virgen de Las Angustias as its patron saint along with San Jos\u00e9.<\/p>\n
