It is an Arab-built watchtower, constructed to defend the lands of Zalia from possible invasions from the coast. The tower is built of slate stones forming circular vaults with lime mortar. It still retains a corbel from the machicoulis that guards a doorway situated at a height of around 6.5 metres, with brick jambs and a single-stone lintel, concealing the half-destroyed brick vault.<br \/>\nIt has about<strong> 9.5 metres high<\/strong> and according to <strong>According to tradition, it was built in a single night<\/strong> built using materials sourced from the surrounding area and water from the River Guaro. It served as a means of communication with other watchtowers along the coast and Zalia Castle. This tower had a counterpart on Cerro Agudo, which has now been destroyed; together they marked the boundary of the territory of V\u00e9lez.
