What is known is that it was transformed into a large fortress during the Muslim occupation, built on the site now occupied by the cemetery.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The castle, of Arab origin, was built on the site of an ancient Roman fortress.<\/strong> The remains of the fortress are popularly known as \"La Tahona\", and from the top you can contemplate a wonderful general view of the village, which seems to be suspended on a rock, as well as the impressive massif of Sierra Tejeda to the north and the sea to the south.
