Situated in the highest part of the village, in the "Loma Barcos", this magnificent tourist facility dominates the municipality of Iznate with breathtaking views. With views to the North of the Sierra Tejeda Almijara, to the South of the Mediterranean, as well as practically the whole of the Eastern Costa del Sol, from Nerja, passing through Torrox, Torre del Mar and reaching as far as Malaga Capital.

From this location you can see, on clear days, the coast of Africa. And if you look to the north, you can clearly see the inland municipalities such as Comares, Canillas de Aceituno, Alcaucín, etc.

A walk through the streets of Iznate and its slopes adapted to the unevenness of the terrain is an experience for travellers. White façades adorned with flowerpots, colourful flowerbeds and secluded corners and squares form a network that evokes the Andalusian past of this village in the Axarquia region.

Strolling through the narrow, steep streets of Iznate, in the Plaza de la Virgen de los Dolores you will find the Fuente Blasonada. Its name comes from the coat of arms that decorates it, belonging to the Marquisate of Campos. Two other emblematic fountains are the Fuente de Moguera and the Fuente del Encime, also known as the Fuente de los Tres Deseos (Fountain of the Three Wishes). Both were built during the period of Muslim domination.

Pilar Fountain

This spring has been used since ancient times by the inhabitants of the village of Iznate as, firstly, a source of drinking water for their families, and secondly, as a drinking trough for their mules, donkeys and horses after the day's work they used to do in the fields.

Fuente Moguera

This is another fountain of Arab origin in Iznate whose name is not known for sure whether it is Moguera or Noguera, attributed to a large walnut tree that grew next to the fountain. The people of Iznate still draw their water from this crystal clear spring on hot summer days, and it is even customary on summer afternoons to go for a stroll to where it is located and on the way take advantage of the opportunity to fill the occasional botijo (water jug).

Church of St. Gregory VII

Iznate, Malaga

It is a late 16th century building with subsequent restorations in 2002, 2006 and 2015. It is built on a single nave, 25 metres long, 7 metres wide and 11 metres high.

Inside, there are three chapels on the Gospel side with works of some value, such as an oil painting of San Francisco de Paula attributed to the Rivera school of incalculable value and a 17th century polychrome wooden Immaculate Conception. And on the outside, on the Epistle side, there are six buttresses with access under a round arch, framed with two tondos representing St. Peter and St. John and crowned by the Jesuit emblem of J.H.S.

It is the most interesting and impressive building in the town of Iznate.
