Manganeta Tower

Description

It is located in the Toscanos area (Almayate Alto) near the mouth of the river Vélez. It was built in the 16th century as part of the complex of coastal constructions that defended the coast from enemy attacks and invasions from the sea. It is a truncated cone-shaped tower built of masonry, some 7.5 metres high. Somewhat deteriorated, it still preserves remains of its Mudéjar stucco cladding, the access opening on the south side, the staircase and the roof or terrace.
