ANDALUSÍ MINARET OF SALARES

ANDALUSÍ MINARET OF SALARES

Salares
It was built in the 13th-14th centuries. It was part of the mosque of Salares and has been preserved to the present day as the bell tower of the church of Santa Ana. It has a square floor plan, is made of brick and masonry and consisted of two main bodies and a third smaller upper one that was replaced after the conquest by a bell tower. It is decorated with blue diamond-shaped tiles on a white background, sebka tiles on all four sides and sgraffito decoration with geometric motifs that appeared after the last restoration. Remains of the mosque remain, such as the wall of the quibla and the site (now the courtyard where the first church was built).
