ALJIBE ANDALUSÍ DE CANILLAS DE ACEITUNO (ANDALUSIAN CISTERN OF CANILLAS DE ACEITUNO)

Canillas de Aceituno
This cistern from the Andalusian period was used to store water for the irrigation of the orchards and adjacent terraces. Its construction is notable for being a barrel vault made of tuff stone. The Huertezuelo cistern, as it is known today, is still used by the irrigators of the area, thus perpetuating the traditional Andalusian irrigation system. In the orchards irrigated by its waters you can see old olive tree trunks, beautiful laurels, lilies and rose bushes that bear witness to the biodiversity of the orchards of al-Andalus.
