Nestled in the Axarquia region, it is a village that treasures a rich cultural and gastronomic heritage. Its network of steep, narrow streets, adorned with flowers and Mudejar-style arches, reflects its Moorish origins and makes it a picturesque destination. The local gastronomy is notable for traditional dishes such as wood-fired goat and black pudding, the latter celebrated in an annual festival where thousands of portions are handed out to locals and visitors alike. The municipality also celebrates other important festivities, such as the Pilgrimage of San Isidro in May and the Fair of Nuestra Señora de la Cabeza in August, which combine religious and popular traditions.
