Located in the Axarquia region of Malaga, it is a charming village of Moorish origin that retains its Andalusian essence in its network of narrow winding streets, adorned with whitewashed houses. Surrounded by vineyards, almond and olive groves, its economy has traditionally been based on agriculture, particularly the production of muscatel grapes, from which sultanas and wines of renowned quality are obtained. Its historical heritage includes the Church of San Gregorio VII, built at the end of the 16th century, and fountains of Muslim origin such as the Fuente de los Tres Deseos (Fountain of the Three Wishes) and the Fuente de Moguera (Fountain of Moguera). Every year, on the first Saturday in August, the Día de la Uva Moscatel (Muscatel Grape Day) is held, a festivity declared a Provincial Tourist Singularity, which includes tastings of local products, music and cultural activities. The local gastronomy offers traditional dishes such as sopa de maimones, tortillitas de bacalao and ajoblanco, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of the region.
