The typical gastronomy of Alfarnatejo is characterised by its traditional cuisine based on local products and inherited recipes. Dishes such as "olla de hinojos", a hearty stew with fennel, chickpeas and pork, "Migas" made with bread or flour accompanied by sausages, peppers, grapes, melon, watermelon, oranges, olives, herring and other farm produce, "Choto al ajillo" prepared with oil, garlic, almonds, bread and vinegar and "Chivo frito" usually accompanied by vegetables and other farm produce. There are also salads with mint and garlic, watercress salad, saina and mushroom morrete.
The homemade sausages and the traditional desserts such as the "roscos de San Marcos", pastries representative of the celebration of the day of "San Marcos" are popular, but they are made in Alfarnate.
