The typical gastronomy of Torrox stands out for its fusion of Mediterranean and Andalusian flavours. Among its most representative dishes are the migas torroxeñas, made with semolina flour, accompanied by sardines, cod, clams, olives, ensaladilla arriera (with orange wedges).
Also emblematic are gachas, sopa de maimones, papas a lo pobre, gazpacho de tomate, ajoblanco, boquerones (anchovies) in different versions and espetos de sardinas.
The local wines, handcrafted with Muscat grapes from the few remaining vines, are of great quality: sweet, semi-dry, dry and "aguapié" (low gradient).
In confectionery, the most outstanding are the wine doughnuts and almond sweets, a reflection of the Moorish heritage.
In addition, the local muscatel wine perfectly accompanies these delicacies, highlighting the gastronomic richness of this town in the Axarquia region.
