Alfarnatejo

In the Axarquia region of Malaga, Alfarnatejo is a small village that captivates with its authenticity, a paradise in the mountains, a place to discover. Its Church of the Santo Cristo de Cabrilla is witness to its history, and behind it, the village fountain pays homage to the women who for generations washed their clothes there.

Alfarnatejo is outdoor sports, spectacular landscapes, climbing, extraordinary restaurants, culture, rich and varied Mediterranean gastronomy.

Around AlfarnatejoYou will be amazed by rocks so large that they look like giants emerging from the landscape. These natural formations, combined with the peaks of the Chamizo, Rooster y Vilo and the Camarolos MountainsThe landscape is perfect for lovers of hiking and adventure.

Landscapes

To reach Alfarnatejo by the road that crosses the gorge of the river Sabar is to enter into a telluric landscape of torn mountain ranges in stone blocks that stopped their rolling on the slopes of Gallo-Vilo; it is to approach the domains of the eagles in the Doña Ana and Alto del Fraile gorges.

On leaving the gorge, the small depression that extends in front of the village is a rest for the traveller on his journey, but the mountains are still present. On the other side of the depression, the Sierra de Camarolos, with the Chamizo peak (1,637 metres), closes the horizon towards the Antequera region, while the Sierra del Rey, now outside the municipality, offers views to the south with a landscape of great beauty.
