Benamargosa is a town of Moorish origin which combines history, gastronomy and natural landscapes in a privileged setting. Baticate

This municipality in the Axarquía region of the Costa del Sol has been a pioneer in the cultivation of tropical fruits, particularly that of the avocado.

Benamargosa is famous for its lemon, mango and avocado orchards making it an ideal place for discovering the tropical agriculture of the Axarquia.

Every year, the town celebrates the Country Festival to celebrate their entirely organic farm produce with a huge festival at which all the local residents offer up the best of their harvests from the valley. A must-attend event to savour the best of the local cuisine, such as avocado milkshake (or ‘baticate’), ‘ensaladilla cateta’ and the so-called zoque or ‘pear lemon’, cherry tomatoes… Party Designated as an Event of Tourist Interest by the Málaga Provincial Council.
