El Saltillo Bridge

Nature and scenery are the jewel in the crown for visitors looking for outdoor activities. The Saltillo Bridge Route is a good example of this.

It is a 9-kilometre-long route that features the majestic El Saltillo Bridgea 78-metre-high footbridge over the river, 50 metres long and 1.20 metres long, that is the third longest suspension bridge in Spain.

The El Saltillo route belongs to Canillas de Aceituno and connects with the next village, Sedella, and with the Gran Senda de Málaga. It is situated in the heart of the Natural Park of Sierras Tejeda, Almijara and Alhama. It offers views of the Axarquía, La Maroma (the highest point in Málaga) and even the sea.

Saltillo can be made in different ways so you can vary the route according to the difficulty you are looking for (if you are going with children or older people) and the time you have available.

For much of the route of El Saltillo, you will be accompanied by a water ditch or rubber that zigzags along the path and carries the water to the village. Please take care not to trip, do not throw rubbish, and try not to damage the rubber or obstruct the irrigation ditches.
