Tajos del Alcázar

Description

The Tajos del Alcázar, declared a Natural Monument on 14 January 2012, are located in the Natural Park of Sierra Tejeda, Almijara and Alhama, in Alcaucín. This group of geological formations includes the Tajo de El Fuerte, with more than 170 metres in height and 500 metres in length. The area, inaccessible to humans, is inhabited by birds of prey and mountain goats. The flora of the area is diverse, with Aleppo pines, poplars, holm oaks, and shrubs such as cornicabras, gorse and rockroses, as well as herbs such as thyme and rosemary.
