Árchez is, like its municipality, a small but charming village, hidden at the foot of the sierra between Cómpeta and Canillas de Albaida and situated on the banks of the river Sayalonga in the northwest of the Axarquía region. Vines and olive trees cover the hills surrounding the village, while in the valley the small widening of the river and some terraces add vegetables and fruit trees to the landscape. The landscape of Árchez should be contemplated from the higher ground in the surrounding area, especially along the road which, following the Ruta del Mudéjar (Mudejar Route), heads towards Salares. Also from the road to Arenas there is a beautiful panoramic view of Árchez and the surrounding area.
