El Borge is located 237 metres above sea level at the foot of Cerro Cútar (595 m.) and next to the river of the same name. Its territory is on the border between the regions of Montes de Málaga and Axarquía, within a common landscape of rolling hills, sometimes with gentle forms, covered with vineyards and olive groves. The abundance of vineyards means that the "paseros", a very characteristic feature of the Axarquia landscape, are also very common. Where the relief is gentler, the landscape is made up of cereal fields, and then becomes irrigated with citrus fruits, fruit trees and vegetables in the orchards at the bottom of the valley, thus foreshadowing the landscape downstream from the river Benamargosa to the fertile plain of Vélez.
