The Mudejar Route of the Axarquia is a journey through time that reveals the beauty of Mudejar art in five charming villages: Arenas, Árchez, Salares, Sedella and Canillas de Aceituno. Here, history can be felt in the streets, houses and monuments, with minarets, horseshoe arches and wooden coffered ceilings that transport us to another era. An experience for the senses, where gastronomy and nature come together with history and culture.

The Christian conquest of La Axarquía did not take place until 1487. The term 'Mudéjar', which comes from the word 'mudayya', is applied to the Hispano-Muslims who, after the Christian conquest, remained under the new Castilian state, preserving their religion, language and legal organisation.
