ALOE AND ACÍBAR AT BIZILYANA

ALOE AND ACÍBAR AT BIZILYANA

Rincón de la Victoria
In the Repartimiento of Bizilyana, after the conquest in 1487, mention is made of the existence of a house in which acíbar was made, which was given in the repartimiento as a dwelling to the warden Fernando de Uncibay, after which this activity was abandoned. The inhabitants of Bizilyana used acíbar for medicinal purposes, as well as to protect the leaves of the mulberry trees from pests. The botanist of Benalmádena Ibn al-Baytar cites it in his work al-Jami الجامع : it is used to heal wounds and has laxative and purgative powers and cleanses the stomach, resolves obstruction of the liver and purifies the intestines.
