The Andalusian farmstead is located in the centre of the present-day village of Iznate, protected by walled houses and by the shape of the land itself. In the southeast area there was a fortification from the Caliphate period that is now completely lost. Perhaps its toponym refers to it: Hisn (fortress) Ate (name of a personage). The orientation of the present church coincides with what must have been the mosque, later altered after multiple alterations. On another hill further to the west, a raabita was located on the site that bears the name “La Mezquita” (the mosque).
