ALQUERÍA DE SEDELLA

ALQUERÍA DE SEDELLA

Sedella
Sedella (Shadaliyya in Arabic) conserves its Andalusian town planning, its mill, its bridge and a system of irrigation channels that carried water by gravity, and which today form beautiful paths. Almost nothing remains of its hisn or fortress, which was so important from the 10th century until its conquest. The 15th century author al-Wansharisi records this curious case in his work: 'Ibn Manthur was asked about the people of the Shadaliyya farmhouse: When the fish seller arrives at the place, people come with containers of barley and oil, take a quantity of fish from the ashram and move away'...'. In the centre is a Mudejar civil building with sgraffito decoration, the only one preserved in the region.
