ANDALUSÍ BRIDGE OF SALARES

ANDALUSÍ BRIDGE OF SALARES

Salares
Many publications erroneously state that it is Roman, but there is no record of any important ancient communication route inland. It is an Andalusian bridge that was located on the road that linked the coast with Granada. It is built of ashlar and its semicircular arch is made of brick. It has been restructured and reconstructed several times during its history, modifying its original appearance and mitigating the curved shape of its roadway. An incised legend appears on one of its parapets: 'Se fabricó. Year 1863". This does not refer to the year of its construction but to one of the restorations carried out.
