The municipality of Torrox has to its credit an Andalusian heritage that has left its mark not only in the urban planning and architecture of the residential nucleus that has survived to the present day, but also in the organisation of the agricultural resources of the land next to the course of the River Torrox with market garden crops, fruit trees and above all sugar cane. In this geographical area were located, together with Torrox, several farmhouses, each with independent administration, now disappeared: Alhaguer, Alhandaq, Almedina, Periana and Lautín.
