Jaral Tower

Description

It is located in the town of Almayate Bajo, situated on a 30-metre high cliff a short distance from the beach. A tower inherited from the Nasrid watchtower system of the 13th and 14th centuries, which has been modified in later centuries and is used in the surveillance and defence of the coast. It is characterised by being made of masonry with an alignment of bricks, its ground plan is the only one in the whole region that is characterised by its square shape with a height of 10 metres. Its location was privileged as it was installed next to the royal road to Granada where a wide maritime area could be seen.
