Macaca Tower

Description

It is located on a small cliff 25 metres high. It was built in 1497 as a coastal defence system against the Berber attacks that tried to reach the coves and inlets of the region to disembark. It is characterised by being made of masonry and lime mortar, with a truncated cone shape and a height of 12 metres. Access to the entrance opens on the north side about six metres from the ground, and an internal staircase leads to the roof, the exit of which is protected by a roofed structure. It was renovated in the first half of the 18th century, where artillery was installed to repel enemy attacks.
