Gálvez's Pavilion

From the 18th century. Water basin that belonged to the Palace of the Gálvez family. The fountain reproduces the bust of this favourite son of the town who did so much for the prosperity of the town and its inhabitants.

Benaque is a small hamlet 2 kilometres from Macharaviaya. In its surroundings we can visit the house where the poet Salvador Rueda was born on 2 December 1857 and which he himself defined in one of his poems as a "poor house". The poet's birthplace is a house where his personal belongings are preserved almost exactly as the poet left it.

Built in 1785 by the Gálvez family and used as a burial place for the family. It is located under the church of San Jacinto and its size is surprising, equal to that of the church itself. The mausoleum contains the remains of Don José de Gálvez and his wife, as well as other members of the family. There are also several anonymous statues of members of the family.

This church was erected in the 18th century, a monument built in 1505 by order of the archbishop of Seville, Diego Leza, before the town was founded in 1572. Two centuries later, it was rebuilt under the patronage of the Gálvez family and with the profits of the Real Fábrica de Naipes.

It is a Mudejar style church from the 16th century, with a quadrangular tower, whose last body of bells has semicircular arches. It is a very unique monumental building, as in addition to being built on the site of an old mosque, its interior walls are decorated with unique paintings.

The Fábrica de Naipes de Macharaviaya was owned by the Gálvez family, made up of five brothers who took part in the American adventure. This opened up a means of communication between the New Continent and the municipality, to the extent that it became known as little Madrid.
