Archaeological Sites in Colmenar

Thanks to studies carried out, we can find different discoveries, such as the following:

• The Eneolithic burial site in the municipality of Casabermeja. The site is located in the so-called Monte Calvario, to the south of the village.
• "Canuto de las Cuevas, located in the vicinity of Villanueva de Cauche.

The most interesting finds are a series of schematic paintings, of which two sites are currently being studied, both in the municipality of Casabermeja but practically united with the lands of Colmenar.

• A series of cave paintings found in numerous hollows located in the Cortijo de Cabrera.
• In the Cortijo del Hospital, located between Cabrera and the border of Colmenar, a group of tombs have been found which, although violated, are an indication of human presence in the area since very remote times.

Materials have also been detected in an area near Venta de los Moriscos.
