Cútar

Description

Located in the Axarquia region, it is a charming white village that preserves its Andalusian essence in its architecture and traditions. Its narrow, steep streets, together with the whitewashed houses, reflect its Moorish origin. Its heritage includes the 16th century Church of Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación and a 16th century Moorish fountain known as "Aina Alcaharia", which means "Fountain of the Alqueria". The Museo del Monfí offers an insight into local Moorish history, exhibiting documents such as the Koran of Cútar, one of the oldest in Spain. Every year in October, the Fiesta del Monfí is held, which commemorates the Moorish past of the municipality with an Andalusian souk, music and typical gastronomy. The local gastronomy includes dishes such as ajoblanco, gazpacho and maimones soups, as well as sweet wines made from muscatel grapes. The natural environment surrounding Cútar, with hills and hills covered with olive trees and vineyards, offers hiking routes that allow you to enjoy picturesque landscapes and connect with nature.
