Municipal Museum of Fine Arts

Multi-purpose space dedicated to: cinema, conferences, theatre, exhibitions, etc.

This museum shows ethnographic customs and traditions through a display of household utensils from Popular's own homes.
It is housed in an old mill and has an exhibition room for contemporary painters. It includes parts of flour and oil mills, wine cellars, a wine press and the chapel of El Paso, Riogordo.

Opening hours: Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays: 10:00-14:00h and 17:00- 20:00h.

It is the nerve centre of the village, crossed by the Calle Real, and from there the Calle Iglesia leads up to the main façade of the Church of Our Lady of Grace.
It is adorned on one side with blue ceramic mosaics on a rustic brick wall telling the story of the fountains of Riogordo.

The flow of thick water (Río Gordo), which was born in a spring in the area, so called because of the minerals it contained, may have been the cause of the first Neolithic settlements in the area. From this period are the remains found in the Tajo de Gomer, and from the Bronze Age in the Cerro de la Capellanía. There are also traces of Phoenician colonisation and remains of Roman domination in the Mosaics of the Villa de Auta, which date from the 3rd century. Remains from the Mousterian period have also been found in the well-known Cerro de Alcolea.

The town centre is divided into two areas: the upper quarter or Cerrillo and the lower quarter or La Plaza. Among its streets you can see ancestral homes from the 18th and 19th centuries, as well as thirteen niches-chapels on the doors of certain buildings, some with up to five hundred years of history. The village also has a mural dedicated to El Paso de Riogordo.

The church dates from 1490. It is built on a basilica plan with two naves and a dance of semicircular arches on pillars and a rectangular head. The main chapel is enclosed with a groined vault, while the naves are enclosed with a pair of frames, the central one with a knuckle and the transept with a cantilever. Its arms and side aisles, which keep them hidden, are closed with low ceilings or hemispherical vaults. The chapel and the square tower, which is topped by a four-sloped roof, are particularly noteworthy. The church is named after the town's patron saint, and inside you can find the image of the patron saint Nuestra Señora de Gracia and her patron saint San Jacinto. In this church you can also see the image of the Santisimo Cristo de los Milagros, the Virgen Dolores Nuestra Señora de los Dolores, María Auxiliadora, the Cristo del Sagrado Corazón, San Isidro, La Virgen del Pilar...
