The Riogordo Pass

26 March 2027 - 27 December 2026

The Riogordo Procession is one of Spain’s most distinctive and well-known religious processions. It has been staged every Good Friday and Holy Saturday for the past 56 years. It has been described by some media outlets as «the best Paso in Europe» or «an unrivalled theatrical performance».

Although there are traces dating back to the 17th century (proclamations recited in the parish church during Holy Week…), we can say that the origins of what is now El Paso de Riogordo lie in the year 1951. From then until now, it has not only survived but has grown thanks to the contributions of everyone who has been involved with it. We can safely say that there isn’t a single family in this village that doesn’t have, or hasn’t had, someone working on the production.

The performance takes place in a venue with a capacity for thousands of spectators and is one of the main cultural and religious events in the province of Málaga.
