Hadriano Mill Museum

The Hadrian Museum is a a rustic house situated in the centre of Cómpeta and that behind its humble door hides a 19th-century oil mill housed within it. The mill was restored by Joost and Schepel Moira to house a museum, an art exhibition space and a holiday cottage.
The museum It has an old blood mill fitted with a conical millstone which dominates the main room, whose walls are covered with all manner of farming tools and implements. The interior is wonderfully cool. During the summer, art exhibitions are held in an adjoining room. This museum has the unique feature of allowing visitors to see, touch and appreciate these items in situ a genuine catalogue of antique tools… and which tell of a past linked to the countryside that is much more recent than we imagine.
Inside, you can buy some of Spain’s finest olive oils, artisan sauces and the delicious wine from Cómpeta.

Almijara Square

Situated in the centre of the village, it retains its 19th-century architectural style. It is the meeting place for gatherings, strolls, chats with friends and all the social activity amongst neighbours. In this square you will find bars and restaurants where you can enjoy the local cuisine.

Hermitage of San Sebastián

It is believed that its current location corresponds to the old town centre. At the base stands a statue of the patron saint of Cómpeta.
It is a simple 18th-century building comprising a single nave covered by a semi-spherical vault supported by pendentives.

The Walk of Traditions

Cómpeta, Málaga

On this tour, our visitors can see examples of our traditional crafts in a a dozen ceramic mosaics by the local potter Antonio Rivas with a brief overview of our history, highlighting the most significant facts. Each mosaic is three metres high by two metres wide, with explanatory phrases and poems, set against a backdrop of bright colours. One of the mosaics traces the history of the municipality, whilst another features a poem by a local writer Manuel Ángel López.

It is situated in the Almijara Square, next to the church of Our Lady of the Assumption.

Lagar de la Plaza de La Vendimia (Winery of La Vendimia Square)

It is at this wine press that the Wine Night; the grapes are trodden in the traditional way there every 15 August so that visitors can see how this delicious wine is made – that is, by foot. The wine press is adorned with three ceramic mosaics, each depicting a moment from the grape harvest or the treading of the grapes.

Church of Our Lady of the Assumption

Cómpeta, Málaga

A church built in the 16th century and subsequently restored.

It is the town’s most important building and is situated in Plaza Almijara. The interior is divided into three naves by octagonal pillars. Of particular note is the mural depicting the Assumption, completed in 1972, by the artist Francisco Hernández.

The exterior was renovated following the 1884 earthquake. Work began in 1893, with the double entrance crowned by a bell gable. Of particular note is the 1935 Neo-Mudéjar brick tower, topped by a tiled dome above the belfry, which is built in the style of a small temple with arcades and columns.

Gaudí Panoramic Viewpoint

Cómpeta, Málaga

This spectacular and original viewpoint, in the style of the brilliant Catalan architect Antonio Gaudí, is located at the entrance to Cómpeta, up the A-7207 road from the municipality of Torrox.

You can enjoy unique views of the town, the Maroma (the highest peak in the province of Malaga) and the Natural Park of the Sierras of Tejeda, Alhama and Almijara.
