Located on the Costa del Sol, it is a municipality that stands out for its cultural and heritage wealth. One of its main emblems is the Nerja Cavediscovered in 1959, houses a Guinness World Record column 32 metres high and contains cave paintings as old as 35,000 years.
This natural monument has been visited by more than 20 million people since its opening to the public in 1960 until March 2025 when this cumulative number of visitors was reached.
The Villa de Nerja Cultural Centre is another fundamental pillar in the cultural life of the municipality. Located in Calle Granada, this space has an auditorium with 355 seats and offers a varied programme that includes exhibitions, workshops, concerts and plays.

These include Semana Santa, with processions through the streets of the old town; the Romería de San Isidro, held on 15 May, where locals make a pilgrimage to the Cueva de Nerja; and the Feria de Nerja, which takes place in October in honour of the Virgen de las Angustias and San Miguel Arcángel, offering musical performances, cultural activities and sporting events.
The Balcón de Europa, a viewpoint in the centre of the town, is another emblematic point offering panoramic views of the Mediterranean and is a meeting place for locals and visitors alike.
Nerja has also been the setting for cultural productions, being the filming location for the emblematic Spanish TV series ".Blue Summer". in the 1980s, which adds nostalgic and cultural value to the municipality.
