Distance: 5.3km (circular route) / Duration: 1h45 / Difficulty: medium-low
We start the route next to the municipal sports centre "El Ejido".
We continue along a dirt track for approximately 1 km. At the bottom right we have excellent views of Alfarnate, surrounded by impressive mountains: Sierra de San Jorge, Tajo de la Palomera, Sierra del Jobo, Cerro del Castillejo. The track runs through stony, limestone terrain, with almond trees, holm oaks and other shrubs in the surrounding area.
On the way up the first steep slope we find a TV repeater crowning the "Morrón del Aguila". From this point we can see Alfarnate and Alfarnatejo. From here we start a descent to the right along a path that runs between a row of chaparros on the right and scrubland on the left until we reach the ruins of the "Lagar de Olmedo" farmhouse. From there we turn right and continue downhill along a track that starts at the farmhouse and runs through a leafy Mediterranean forest. This track connects with the Alfarnatejo-Alfarnate road, which we take in the direction of Alfarnate to reach the Venta de Alfarnate.
We start the descent along a path until we reach the path that leads to the forest of the morillas, where it joins the P.R. "Santo Cristo-Las Morillas" path.
From the venta de Alfarnate, we head towards Alfarnate, walking about 250 m. At the side of the road, we turn right at the first bend and enter a meadow that leads to the Morillas forest, crossing the stream and turning left. We approach the Morillas forest along a path bounded by a stone fence. A few metres further on we turn right to connect with another path that crosses part of the forest of Las Morillas (link with the P.R. "Santo Cristo-Las Morillas" Path). As we walk along this path we can observe in detail the wealth of plant species in this beautiful spot.
The path becomes stony as we approach the village of Alfarnate again, and ends our route at the area known as Pozo Rincón.
