It is called the Ruta de la Pasa (Raisin Route) because its 62 kilometres of route run through the villages of the Axarquia where the best sultanas in the world are to be found. A route with a special character that passes through the white villages and Moorish villages of Totalán, Comares, Cútar, El Borge, Almáchar and Moclinejo. An experience that will immerse you in the most ancestral tradition of vine cultivation and sultana production in Malaga, a production system that shapes this spectacular landscape and that has marked the traditions, culture and life of the people of the Axarquia region of Malaga.
The sultana production system in Malaga is currently internationally recognised as Important World Agricultural Heritage System (GIAHS) awarded by the FAO. It was the first in Europe to achieve this high distinction, which recognises the exceptional nature of a crop whose harvest is heroic and whose artisanal production is unique in the world.
Route distinguished with the National Q Quality Award granted by the Spanish Institute for Tourism Quality and the Secretary of State.
