The urban growth of Torre del Mar in the 1960s led to the construction of a new lighthouse to replace the previous one. First a small rectangular ashlar tower was built next to a house similar to the old lighthouse, located on the seafront after the previous one was surrounded by buildings on the current Avenida Toré Toré. In 1976, during the construction of the Paseo Marítimo, a new cylindrical lighthouse almost 30 metres high was erected to extend the signal range. This lighthouse has become a symbol of the urban landscape of Torre del Mar. Next to it are sports facilities and a Music Pavilion, used for cultural events in summer.
