Regarded as one of the most notable local festivals in the province of Málaga, it brings together locals and visitors to celebrate local cuisine and traditions.
The day begins with a tour of the various stalls set up in the old town, where visitors can sample the town’s traditional produce and dishes.
Numerous stalls set up throughout the village offer a great opportunity to enjoy the best of the Mediterranean diet: avocado smoothie or ‘batycate’, rustic potato salad, the so-called “zoque’ or ‘pear lemon’, ‘cherry’ tomatoes, tripe or garlic and cod, as well as a large, traditional paella cooked over an open fire beside the riverbank that gives the town its name.
The programme is rounded off with performances by verdiales groups, local bands and live music.
